Code Nation equips students in under-resourced high schools with the skills, experiences, and connections that together create access to careers in technology.

What We Do

We mobilize the tech community to help more young people access careers in tech. With a volunteer teaching corps of 300 technology professionals and a powerful network of school and company partners, we bring coding courses and work-based learning programs to students who attend under-resourced high schools.

Code Nation alumni will build careers that enable them to fulfill their full economic, social, and creative potential. As part of a new generation of tech leaders, our alumni will have the power to reduce wealth disparity, increase diversity in the industry, and develop technology that better serves our world.

Code Nation effectively propels students into tech careers and breaks deep-seated social and economic inequities in the tech industry.

Efficacy

74% of our reported alumni who completed two or more years of Code Nation programs are currently majoring or employed in a STEM field.

Equity

We partner with schools where 75% or more of the student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunch.

Inclusion

77% of Code Nation students identify as Black or Latinx and 45% identify as female.

Reach

We reach 1,374 students in 46 high schools in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Founded in 2012 and formerly known as ScriptEd, Code Nation is rapidly expanding to schools across New York City and the Bay Area.

We hope to one day make our program available in cities across the United States.
